VACCINATIONS.
All cats are required to be up to date on their FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia) and Rabies vaccines. Proof of vaccination may be submitted digitally or in person. If your cat receives titer checks in lieu of annual vaccines, you are required to provide an up to date titer report. If your cat no longer receives vaccines due to a medical conditions or age, a veterinary note waiving vaccinations will be need to be submitted.
HEALTH/MEDICAL PROBLEMS & SENIOR CATS.
Occasionally, grooming can expose a hidden medical condition or aggravate a current one. This can occur during or after grooming. The cat’s owner, upon agreement to these terms, will cover all medical expenses for veterinary care. We also reserve the right to refuse service to customers whose cat might pose a threat to itself or others, whether it’s a behavioral problem or a health problem.
ACCIDENTS/MEDICAL EMERGENCIES.
Although accidents are rare, there is always a risk when dealing with animals. Grooming
equipment is sharp, and although we use extreme caution in all situations, possible problems could occur if your dog is wiggling or moving around. This may include cuts, nicks, scratches,
quicking of nails, etc. Your cat’s comfort and safety is our number one priority. In the event that an accident occurs, you will be notified of the accident immediately. If Metro Pets feels that the accident is serious, and the owner is not available, we will seek immediate veterinary care at Boston West Veterinary Emergency (Natick salon) or MSPCA-Angell West (Lexington.)
FRACTIOUS CATS. Owners MUST inform Metro Pets if their cat has bitten anyone, is aggressive towards people, handling, or specific grooming procedures. In the event that your cat becomes fractious during the grooming session, Metro Pets reserves the right to refuse grooming services, or stop the grooming session at any time before or during the grooming session.
MATTED COATS. Cats with severely matted coats require extra attention. Mats are very painful to the cat, and will ultimately cause damage or even tear the cat's skin. In addition, matted hair does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial, and fungal infections. Mats are difficult to remove and may require the cat to be shaved. While we are always cautious, removing a heavily matted coat can cause bruising, nicks, and abrasions, as we’re working very close to the skin. After effects of mat removal may include: itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted abrasions, and in some cases, failure of the hair to regrow. In some cases, the cat may even experience brief behavioral changes. If your pet needs to be shaved, we will contact you to let you know.
FLEAS, TICKS AND OTHER PARASITES. Metro Pets strives to be a flea-free facility. If your cat has any fleas or worms, they will be sent home. Ticks will be removed and you will be notified if any are found.
ILLNESSES, INJURIES OR ALLERGIES. Any previous or current injuries, illnesses or allergies MUST be disclosed to Metro Pets so that we can best take care of your cat and keep other cats safe.
ADDITIONAL FEES. We reserve the right to charge additional fees for services over and above the norm covered by our standard rates. These additional fees may include (but are not limited to) excessive de-matting/de-shedding, extra bathing to fully clean the coat, or special handling to safely complete the groom. Pricing given over the phone or through e-mail is only an estimate. The final price will be given at the time of check out, after the groom has been completed.
SATISFACTION. Your satisfaction is important to us. If you are unhappy for any reason, and would like something adjusted, we will be happy to make the adjustment at the time of pickup.
CANCELLATIONS AND NO SHOWS. No-shows and cancellations (including rescheduling) will incur charges based on the time window within they were cancelled. Notifications received less than 24 hours from the scheduled appointment time will becharged the full fee for reserved grooming time at a rate of $105/hour.
LATE ARRIVALS. Part of a successful groom is having the appropriate amount of time to work with your cat. As we are appointment based, being late to an appointment means it runs over into the next cat's time. The clock for your cat's appointment starts at your scheduled time and any additional time needed will be reflected on your invoice. Depending on how late you arrive, the groomer may not be able to do a full groom
